The School Press Advisers Movement, realizing its objectives to give credit to school paper advisers, student journalists and school publications who are excelling in their craft, welcomes entries for the School Press Advisers Movement Inc. Medallion of Excellence in the Field of Campus Journalism.

A. Student Journalists Category
1. The adviser or the publication of the student nominee must be a SPAM Inc. member.
2. He/she must be a bona fide member of the school publication for the SY 2016-2017.
3. He/she must be of proven integrity and competence as recommended by any two (2) from among the following school administrators:
1. School President/Director/Principal,
2. Head/Director/Dean of Student Affairs and/or,
3. Vice President for Academic Affairs.
4. He/she must have a substantial social involvement as a campus journalist and have proven to
exercise/advocate responsible campus journalism.
5. He/she must have won local, regional, or national campus journalism contests.
6. He/she must have manifested notable leadership skills in the publication.

B. Campus Paper Adviser Category
1. He/she must be a SPAM Inc. member.
2. He/she must have an appointment paper/ recommendation/designation as a campus paper adviser from the school administration (to be included in the nominee’s portfolio).
3. He/she must have been a school paper adviser for at least three years in any institution where he/she has rendered services.
4. He/she must be of proven integrity and competence as recommended by the School President/Director/Principal.
5. He/she must have served as a trainer or a coach in any journalistic training endeavor (inter-school, division, regional, and national).

C. Student Publication Category
1. The publication or adviser must be a SPAM Inc. member.
2. The publication must have won in local, regional, or national campus journalism contests.
3. The publication must manifest integrity, staff enterprise, editorial independence, decency and excellent management techniques.
4. Its content must be campus and student-centered, lack of sensationalism, impact of development community coverage in the area/community must be clear and accurate, has visual appeal, strong editorial page, comprehensive coverage, and excellent writing.

The screening committee for the said awards will be headed by Dr. Melanie V. Briones, President of SPAM, Inc.
